Salopian Brewery - Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Salopian Brewery LogoSalopian Brewey was established at The Old Dairy on the outskirts of medievil Shrewsbury in 1995. Since then the brewery has become synonymous with the production of top quality consistent cask conditioned ales.  The brewery has had to increase capacity twice to keep up with demand, with production now topping 80 barrels a week.

Salopian beers have a distinct style, they are usually full bodied, aromatic and well balanced. The malt, water, yeast, and hops used are always sourced from the same suppliers and the beers produced will naturally show similar characteristics.

Salopian Brewery OracleOracle (4.0% ABV)

Straw coloured ale, hoppy and fruity with a citrus hop aroma. Dry with a bitter aftertaste. The intention of the hop character
is to be pronounced but not all encompassing, dry but not  overtly bitter and a tiny hint of sweetness to add body.

2012 SIBA national champion silver award (best bitters).

Salopian Brewery Lemon DreamLemon Dream (4.5%ABV)

A wheat beer very much in the modern English style - served bright and top fermented. The recipe uses a small amount of fresh lemon to compliment the citrussy flavours produced by the wheat malt. Each of the Hops used, Goldings, Saaz and Cascade add fresh lemony flavours to the brew.

2012 SIBA gold award national champion (speciality beers).

Salopian Brewery Hop TwisterHop Twister (4.5% ABV)

The palate is fresh, piercing and focused, with soft malt overtones and pronounced citrus flavours. A strong focus of taut, lemony, grapefruit on the finish which is balanced by a dry bitterness.

Heaven Sent was an excellent example of a midlands style lightly hopped golden ale, however we decided that tastes were changing and that a more characterful beer was required. Hoptwister has a much more pronounced hop flavour and aroma, and a distinct ‘bite’ to it, and we felt that this was the beer to fill the niche.

Salipian Brewery Golden ThreadGolden Thread (5.0% ABV)

A triple hopping of English First Gold gives powerful citrussy flavours and vinous aromas, however the malt grist of barley, wheat and lager gives plenty  of body and sweetness which balances the assertive bitterness.

2012 SIBA bronze award national champion (strong bitters).
